A new life for an old bench

I saw a lost soul at our town's transfer station (aka 'the dump'), our most favorite treasure hunting spot. One day, I'll tell tall tales of all our finds, but for now, please feel the sorrow and pain I was filled with when I saw this sad situation. Abandoned! Left to rust!

I thought this can't be it, someone put so much love and creativity into making this metal headboard into a bench (a kindred spirit, many years ago.... isn't that cool?). And it fit in the back of the minivan!

So a few cans of rustproofing blue paint, and a little lumber later....

It's sitting proudly under the lilacs at our side door, next to a blue planter. A good new life!
